Milan, Day 3:
Decided that I spontaneously wanted to book a ticket somewhere for a day trip out of Milan.
- Walked to Milan Central station & bought a return ticket to Stresa which is the stop for Lake Maggiore.
Note: Be careful of the men who stand around the ticket machines as they'll try to "help" you but will scam you for your money. If you need assistance using the machines, only ask help from the people in the uniform.
- Fast train on the way there took approx 1 hour.
- Arrived there & couldn't have been happier with my decision. Stresa, was so picturesque it was perfect.
- Spent an hour walking around the town
- Caught a boat over to the Islands, where you can hop on/hop off to a couple of the Islands in the middle.
- Lovely boat ride on an old, wooden boat that felt like the movie The Tourist
- The two islands were called Isola Superiore & Isola Bella
- Got off & walked around Isola Superiore were they had nice little markets & beautiful restaurants to eat & enjoy the views
- Hopped on the boat & got off at Isola Bella, where it had a beautiful old castle, markets & more places to eat or have a drink.
- Then got back on the boat to go back to the mainland, to have a last walk around before catching the general train back to Milan.
- General train took closer to approx 2hrs as it stops at all stops.
